Install Revolve Deployment

The app that loads training content onto headsets. Takes about five minutes.

You will need an access key

A short code beginning revk_ that decides which apps you can download. Revolve Labs will have sent it to you — ask us if you do not have one. You only enter it once.

  1. Open the downloaded file

    Find RevolveDeployment-osx-Setup.pkg in your Downloads and double-click it.

  2. macOS will refuse to open it. This is expected.

    You will see a message saying the file cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

    To allow it: open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to the Revolve Deployment message. Then double-click the file again and choose Open.

    This happens because the app is not registered with Apple, which costs a yearly fee we have not paid yet. It is a one-off step — you will not see it again, including for future updates.

  3. Work through the installer

    Click Continue and Install. You may be asked for your Mac password. The app opens by itself when it finishes.

  4. Enter your access key

    Paste the revk_ code when asked, then click Save and Continue. The app checks it and remembers it.

  1. Let the download finish

    Your browser may block it, saying the file is not commonly downloaded.

    To allow it: click the arrow next to the blocked download, then Keep or Download suspicious file. The wording is alarming, but it only means not many people have downloaded this file yet — it is our software and there is nothing wrong with it.

  2. Run the installer

    Double-click RevolveDeployment-win-Setup.exe. Windows will show a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen.

    To continue: click More info, then the Run anyway button that appears. The Run anyway button is hidden until you click More info.

    Same reason as on Mac: the app is not registered with Microsoft yet. One-off step, including for future updates.

  3. Wait for it to finish

    It installs without asking any questions and does not need administrator rights. The app opens by itself.

  4. Enter your access key

    Paste the revk_ code when asked, then click Save and Continue. The app checks it and remembers it.
